Lawrence Jones-Walters

Specialises in participatory approaches to the development of strategy, management and action plans, in particular for NGOs that operate within the realm of environment and biodiversity. He has extensive experience of international project and programme management and has more than 25 years’ experience of international work in Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and North America. He has broad experience in temperate and tropical ecosystem management, working across the terrestrial, coastal and marine environments, has strong knowledge in relation to habitat and species management and restoration and is a skilled field naturalist. He is a recognised expert in knowledge-based facilitation and moderation, and stakeholder engagement processes. He gained his PhD in conservation management, has an MSc in Applied Entomology and an MBA.

Bernie Fleming

Associate. Is the owner of Fleming Ecology, an independent consultancy providing expert and pragmatic advice on protected areas, habitats and species to the private and public sectors in the UK and beyond. He brings an intimate knowledge of biodiversity legislation, policy and practice is able to draw on nearly 30 years of experience, including the European Birds and Habitats Directives, the Emerald network and Ramsar designations. He has extensive, first hand, experience of the identification, designation, management and safeguard of protected areas. A highly effective communicator, both verbal and written, and a native English speaker, with long experience in stakeholder facilitation and moderation processes.

Roger Catchpole

Associate. Specialises in participatory approaches to conservation strategy, management, and action plans, particularly for NGOs and organisations operating within the realms of ecology, biodiversity, and environmental regulation. With over 20 years of experience in ecology and conservation and an additional decade in environmental regulation in a quasi-judicial role, he has a strong foundation in evidence-based approaches to biodiversity delivery and the science-policy-practice interface. He originally trained in animal and plant ecology, earning a first-class honours degree and PhD from the University of Leeds. His career spans academic, private, and public sectors, where he has developed advanced communication and facilitation skills, enabling him to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, from local communities to large inter-governmental organisations, including the European Commission and the Council of Europe. He has contributed to projects across the Netherlands, Turkey, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, and the broader EU27. His expertise includes landscape ecology, botany, entomology, and public law, complemented by a strong commitment to enhancing biodiversity through practical and collaborative approaches.
